'Meet and greet' volunteer
Leicestershire County Council Library Service, Work Clubs
Leicestershire Libraries provide regular work clubs to aid people in job search, cv writing, interview skills
etc. Volunteers are needed to support the work club advisors in the setting up and running of these
weekly clubs. This will involve:
- Greeting and welcoming people to the clubs
- Taking customers information, keeping a register and ensuring people are seen in order of attendance
- Helping customers join the library and promote services
- Assisting with refreshments
Gain experience working in a library setting
Develop and enhance people skills
Gain confidence working in a busy environment
Be part of a wider volunteering community
Work with training providers and develop knowledge of training courses
Develop IT and online job searching skills
Develop communication skills
Various morning 09:00-12.15 across County and Lutterworth Library Monday 13.45-16.15
Based in libraries in various locations across the county
Work club advisors
Friendly, approachable and able to make people feel comfortable
Organised
Ability to write clearly
Some Experience of IT, for example Word
Respectful of confidentiality and data protection
Experience in giving advice and guidance would be helpful but is not essential
Able to lift and help with manual handling of displays (no heavy lifting)
