Adult Volunteer Agreement

I understand that as an adult volunteer in a Girl Scout troop or for an activity, I play an essential
role in the success of this troop and that my attitudes, behavior, and conduct as a role model are
critical to the success of the troop and the well-being of the girls. I also understand as a member
of the Girl Scout community, it is my responsibility to do my best to adhere to the Girl Scout
Promise and Law, and to abide by the following rules.
As a Girl Scout adult volunteer, I agree to:
• Treat every girl and adult with respect, and be sensitive to their needs.
• Respect the places and the people with whom I come in contact in my role as a Girl
Scout Adult Volunteer.
• Not initiate or participate in gossip or negative statements about Girl Scouts and will
refrain from behavior that may undermine the leadership of an activity or the troop/group.
Should I have a complaint or problem, I will follow the proper chain of command.
• Use and follow agreed-upon safety policies and procedures, including all troop
rules/procedures.
• Supervise, mentor, and keep all Girl Scouts safe with which I am working, not just my
own.
• Teach and assist only when necessary. It is not any volunteer’s job to do the work for the
girls.
• Keep cell-phone use to a minimum while supervising and working with girls
• Refrain from smoking, vaping, alcohol consumption, and drug use.
I understand that my behavior directly impacts the girl’s/troops ability to participate in Girl Scout
activities. I understand that if I choose not to honor this agreement, it may impact my ability to
participate in Girl Scout activities.
