Example question: When have you worked as part of a team to
complete a difficult task?
Below is how to tackle the question using the STAR technique. Fill in each part to

List three times you’ve worked as part of a team on different tasks in academia, an extra-
curricular activity, a project or during work experience. Pick your best example and move
onto the task.

Outline the task you were faced with and what success looked like if the team performed
well – include information like timeframes, the make-up of the team and why you were
doing it.
Action:
Three bullet points on how your actions helped the team achieve its goal. What was your
role in the team? How did you motivate others? What did you take responsibility for? Top
tip – focus very much on what you did within the team.
