OnBudgetAmendments

Abudgetamendmentisamovementofbudgetedfundsfromoneorganizationtoanother(e.g.,Arts

andScienceDeancontributesoperationaldollarstoChemistryforequipment).Abudgetamendment

canalsobeamovementofbudgetallocationsfromonebudgetlineaccounttoanotherwithinthe

sameorganization(e.g.,generaloperationsdollarsmovedtostudentwages).

Rules:

• Themovementoffundsmustbewithinthesamefund.(Fortransfersbetweenfunds,please

seeinstructionsunder“Transfers”.)

• Budgetamendmentstoanapprovedbudgetareconsideredoneitherapermanentor

temporarybasis.Requestsforpermanentamendmentsshouldapplytoconditionsofa

recurringnatureand,uponapproval,areincludedaspartofthetotalexistingbudget

authorizedatthebeginningofeachyear.Requestsfortemporaryamendmentsshouldapplyto

conditionsofanon‐recurringnatureand,uponapproval,areincludedinthebudgetforthe

remainderofthefiscalyearonly.Thebudgetwillthenrevertautomaticallytoitsformer

permanentstatus.

Instructions:

• CompletetheBudgetAmendmentRequestform.Specifythenameoftheoriginating

departmentandprovideadescription(35charactersorless)statingthepurposeofthebudget

amendment.

• ListtheCostCenterNameandthepositionnumber,ifapplicable.Recordthesixdigitfund

code,organizationcodeandbudgetlineaccount,andthefourdigitprogramcode.

• Showtheamountoftheincrease(+)ordecrease ( ‐) tothebudgetlineitem.

• Obtainthesignatureoftheauthorizedbudgetmanager.Provideacontactphoneextension

anddatetheform.

• ForwardtheformtoUniversity Analytics and Institutional Research,AdministrationBuilding304F.

620100‐FacultySalaries;630100‐GraduateAssistantSalaries;and640100‐StudentWages.
