Applying for a Property Checklist

1. REGISTER FOR NRAS (QLD ONLY)
If you have an NRAS number (QLD only), proceed to step 2. If you don’t have an NRAS number (QLD only), go to
the QLD Government website www.hpw.qld.gov.au/nras or phone 13 74 68 to check your eligibility and apply. You
cannot proceed with your application until you have an NRAS number (QLD only).
2. REGISTER WITH HORIZON HOUSING
Visit our website www.horizonhrl.com.au to register your details with us, the leasing agent of the
property.
Click on the “Tenants" tab
Click on “Apply”
You will only need to complete this application once, as it is valid for 3 months.
This means you can use it to apply for as many properties as you like during this period and will only need to attend
the inspection of future properties you wish to apply for via registration on realestate.com.au.
After the 3-month period, you will need to renew both this application and your supporting documents (Step 2).
PLEASE NOTE: Tenancy databases are used to protect a property owner’s investment. However, unfair and old listings
can disadvantage some people when they try to secure private rental housing.
What this means for you
As a property manager, we are required by law to let you know which databases we use to check your rental history. At
Horizon Housing we use the Equifax and Barclays MIS tenancy databases.
What if I am listed?
If you are listed on a tenancy database that we use, we are required by law to let you know that you are listed, and
provide you with the contact details of the database operator so you can find out information about your
listing.

2. PROVIDE YOUR SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS
Applications will be processed within three weeks of attending a property inspection.
Please note your eligibility for the NRAS is based on your annual income for the 12 months prior to commencing your
lease so you will be asked for 12 months proof of income details.

NRAS Registration Letter (QLD only). This is the letter the Department of Housing & Public Works
emails to you once are approved for NRAS, It will state your name and NRAS reference number.
Real Estate / Lessor Tenancy Information Request. Please fill in the top two boxes only. This includes your
name, address, signature, agent/lessor name and their contact number.
Proof of Income. PLEASE COMPLETE NEXT PAGE "PROOF OF INCOME - REQUIRED
DOCUMENTATION CHECKLIST" (FOR EACH APPLICANT).

PLEASE NOTE: We advertise all our properties online at www.realestate.com.au. You can click on the “Find Agents”
heading on realestate.com.au and search under Agency Name; Horizon Housing Realty to view our properties. When an
inspection time has been booked, we advertise the date and time on the listing, so it is important to keep an eye out for
any updates, however we do send emails to applicants with upcoming inspection times also.
