About this Guide: We’re thrilled to have you on board! This guide outlines
the first 90 days of your new hire journey. Use the checklist to view the
necessary tasks to be accomplished from week one up to your first 90 days.
It is recommended that you download and save the document to check off
each task as it is completed.

Week One
DAY ONE GET ACQUAINTED
Check-in
US Associates: Complete your I-9 verification
Obtain your security badge (if applicable).
Meet your manager and team
Your manager and teammates are excited to get to know you. Take this first day to get acquainted
with your new colleagues.
During your first 90 days, your manager will introduce you to your Onboarding Buddy to help you
learn the ropes. Your buddy will help you get situated and answer any questions.
Technology
The New Associate Equipment Setup Guide provides you with essential information to set
your
computer and applications.
Take a few moments to confirm your access to the following have been instated. If you need
any assistance, please reach out to the Service Desk at 888-438-4800. You’ll need to provide
your Employee ID number when you call, so have it handy!

Week One
Day 1 cont.
Orientation Live Session
Connect with us for your Day 1 New Hire Virtual Kickoff at 3 PM EST. The invite was sent to your
Staples email address.
Additional Employment Documentation
US Associates: Update your personal information on Associate Connection, submit Direct Deposit,
and enter your W4 information.
Canada Associates: Update your personal information on Associate Connection. Submit your Direct
Deposit by opening an e-ticket and attaching an official bank document with account information.
Safety
The safety and security of our associates is our top priority as we navigate the spread of the
Coronavirus (COVID-19) and its impact on our work and personal lives. The Coronavirus (COVID-19)
is an evolving situation that we are monitoring closely, and we will continue to keep you updated as
the situation develops.
Review the Coronavirus Resource Center for safety protocols. Failure to follow required
safety protocols may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

Week One
LEARN THE LANDSCAPE
Getting to know each other was the first step, now we want to tell you a bit more about where we have
been and where we are going. Completing the following tasks will get you up to speed.
Review the New Associate Integration Plan. This guide will be provided by your manager or can be
found on the My Onboarding Page.
Schedule Introductory Meetings. Your manager has composed an integration plan that identifies
key colleagues you should meet. Upon receipt, reach out and get the conversation started!
Explore the Resources on My Onboarding Page on Talent Track. Staple’s Intranet, The Hub, is a great
place to start.
Complete required trainings and job specific training, found on Talent Track → My Onboarding
My Required Trainings.
Connect with your manager and set-up regular meetings and check-ins. Use the Associate Led
Check-In Template found on Talent Track → My Performance.
Review your Benefits:
o
US Associates: You must enroll in Staples Benefits within 30 of your start date.
o
Canada Associates: Upon completion of 90 days of service you are automatically enrolled in
the base benefits plan. Full-time associates will receive an enrollment package within your
first 90 days of service and part-time associates will receive a package after 90 days of
service. You will have 6 weeks to submit your forms.

Week Two
UNDERSTAND THE EXPECTATIONS
As you enter your second week, you'll learn more about our company strategy and how your role
directly impacts our goals.
Discuss with your manager performance expectations and how those will be measured.
Further explore the Resources on My Onboarding Page on Talent Track. Staples Spotlight presents a
series of short videos that will help you further understand our business and operations.
Learn what unconscious bias is; how unconscious bias impacts the workplace; and how to identify
and address it by completing the Addressing Unconscious Bias Training on Talent Track → My
Onboarding → My Required Trainings.
Explore the iLead Programs and learn more about our values. You can access iLead Self on Talent
Track → MyLearning.

Month One
CHART YOUR PATH
By now, you have a good understanding of your role and expectations, but you may be wondering how
to maximize your career opportunities at Staples, Inc. Be sure to complete the following to learn more.
Work with your manager to define your goals for the next quarter. Don’t worry if they are not
perfect! They can be updated and changed at any time. Explore the Performance Goals Best
Practices: Talent Track → My Performance.
It is recommended to have one business goal and one developmental goal.
Enter your goals into Talent Track → My Performance → Set Performance Goals.
Follow-up with your buddy to maintain your rapport and keep your connection going. Connect over
coffee virtually, while personal interactions are not recommended!
GET CONNECTED
We strive to provide a safe, diverse, and inclusive community where everyone can bring their authentic
selves to work and build connections with others. When you are comfortable in your new role, explore
the following:
Inclusion & Diversity Resource Center: a great place to learn about our Business Resources Groups,
Social Justice and our Inclusive Culture. Access it on Talent Track > My Onboarding > Inclusion &
Diversity Resource Center.

People managers will be required to complete an Inclusive Hiring Training Curriculum. Be on
the look out for an email detailing a two-part training, Fundamentals of Inclusive Hiring (30
minutes) and Inclusive Hiring for Managers and Interviewers (60 minutes)

| Share Fund Canada offer relief for associates in need of severe financial assistance due to
significant events or other circumstances beyond their control.

Month Three +
CELEBRATE
Congratulations! You have made it to the end of the enterprise onboarding journey. We hope the past
90 days have been full of learnings and experiences that have made settling in a little bit easier. But
you're not done yet! Please complete the following to conclude the program:
Participate in a
90-day review with your manager. Be sure to ask questions and fully understand
your current performance and how you can grow and develop in the future. The invitation
should be initiated by your manager. If not, feel free to reach out and set it up!
o Explore the My Performance page on Talent Track to learn about Best Practices on Giving
and Receiving feedback.
o During your 90-Day check-in, discuss with your manager your development plan for the
remainder of the year. The Individual Development Plan (IDP) Guide is available on Talent
Track My Onboarding and is meant to help you reflect on strengths and development
goals essential to success in your current role.

Month Three +
WORK-LIFE FLEXIBILITY
Staples understands the constant juggle between home responsibilities and work responsibilities.
Aimed at helping to improve balance between work and personal life, our Work-Life Flexibility US|
Work-life Flexibility Canada policy assist associates and managers in considering more flexible
approaches to work while still fulfilling our commitment to our customers.
Discuss with your manager to determine if the following items of our policy are an option for your
specific work situation:

Holiday Leave Early provides Associates with the option to leave early on the workday
before our company-observed paid holidays as business needs allow.
o
Summer Flex Fridays provide Associates the option to leave early on Fridays between
Memorial Day | Victoria Day and Labor Day.
WELLBEING
Being dedicated to help our Associates navigate our post-COVID environment, you can explore the
myWorklife page. The site contains videos, articles and reference tools to help you stay productive,
resilient and whole through difficult times.
