LIMITED ATTORNEY-CLIENT ENGAGEMENT AGREEMENT
This LIMITED ATTORNEY-CLIENT ENGAGEMENT AGREEMENT is entered into
by and between (“Client”) and Johnson-Gilchrist Law Firm, P.C.
(“Attorney”).
1.
SCOPE OF ENGAGEMENT AND DUTIES
. Client hires Attorney for the sole
purpose to act as legal representative as stated and required by Montana Code
Annotated § 40-1-301(4) to appear before the Clerk of Court of the Eleventh
Judicial District, Flathead County, Montana to pay the marriage license fee in
association with the marriage Client intends to enter into by proxy, as permitted by
Montana Code Annotated § 40-1-301(2). Client acknowledges that Attorney has
not provided Client with any legal advice in the course of this limited representation
and acknowledges that no statement by Attorney or any third party will be
construed as a promise or guarantee about any aspect of Client’s matter. Attorney
makes no promises or guarantees.
2.
RIGHTS, DUTIES, AND OBLIGATIONS
. Client acknowledges that Client
desires to become married to and to enter into a marriage
by proxy together with all of the rights, privileges, and duties of the marital
relationship, including but not limited to the obligation to support one’s spouse and
entitlement to inherit real and personal property from and through each other. If
either party to the proxy marriage is not a United States citizen and travel or
relocation to the United States is desired by the non-citizen, Client acknowledges
that neither party is using the proxy marriage process as an attempt to avoid
United States federal immigration laws, and Client acknowledges that all applicable
immigration procedures must be observed following the marriage.
3.
FEES.
Client acknowledges that fees for the limited service of acting as legal
representative for Client for the purpose stated above shall be paid by a third party,
namely, A Big Sky Event.
4.
RECORD RETENTION.
Client understands that at the conclusion of Attorney’s
limited representation, Client may request in writing Client’s file and/or the return of
original documents or property provided to Attorney during the course of the limited
representation. Once Attorney’s services are completed, Attorney will place Client’s
file in storage. Attorney retains files for a period of three (3) years, after which
Client’s file will be destroyed. If Client wishes Attorney
