Please refer to the Minimal and Moderate Sedation Services Standards and Guidelines as necessary.
1. Identify which definition best describes the patient response to minimal sedation and to
moderate sedation:
2. a.) Which two individuals make up a minimal sedation team and what CPR certification must they have?
Anxiety relief with minimal drowsiness. Patient responds normally
to tactile stimulation and verbal command. Although cognitive
function and coordination may be modestly impaired, ventilatory
and cardiovascular function are unaffected.
Drowsiness, but patient responds purposefully to verbal
command, either alone or accompanied by light tactile stimulation.
Spontaneous ventilation is adequate and cardiovascular function is
rarely compromised.
b.) Which three individuals make up a moderate sedation team and what CPR certification must they
have?
3. Why is it important for sedation teams to conduct mock emergency drills? How often should these drills
be conducted?
