COMMERCIAL FAÇADE IMPROVEMENT
GRANT PROGRAM
The Merritt Island Redevelopment Agency (MIRA) sponsors a Commercial Façade Improvement Grant
Program to benefit property owners in the MIRA redevelopment area. Pre-application counseling may
be obtained by calling the Merritt Island Redevelopment Agency, at (321) 454-6610.

(The grant funding shall be 50% of the project cost up to $17,500 (Subject to available funding).
PLEASE ATTACH THE FOLLOWING:
1) Copy of deed/proof of ownership w/Legal Description.
2) Detailed/itemized description of planned improvements. Drawing or Rendering if available.
3) Photographs of current condition (include three or more 3 X 5 color photographs).
4) Two estimates/quotes/bids for all costs associated with the project.
o Estimates/quotes/bids must list individually all items of work to be performed with price
for each item.
o Owner “sweat equity” hours will not be credited as matching value.
5) List of applicable permits.

Completed applications should be submitted (with required attachments) to:

Applications will not be processed until all information is submitted. Incomplete applications will be
returned for required elements. Applications submitted to MIRA will be date-stamped as received,
logged and reviewed for completeness. Complete packages will be reviewed by the MIRA
Beautification Committee, who will then make a recommendation to the MIRA Board. Recommended
application packages will be placed on the next available agenda for MIRA Board for final approval and
funding. Approved applicants will be scheduled for agreement execution. A final notice to proceed
with the project will be issued by MIRA. It should be noted that an application can be submitted to
the Beautification Committee for consideration of approval, if the work proposed on the
application has commenced no more forty-five (45) days before submittal. If the work is
completed before submitting the application, it will not be accepted.
IF THE APPLICATION IS NOT APPROVED BY THE MIRA BOARD OF DIRECTORS THE APPLICANT
UNDERSTANDS THAT THE GRANT OR PORTION OF THE GRANT MAY NOT BE AWARDED.
