Students currently enrolled in high school and seeking classes at Montgomery College (MC) may apply for a need-based grant
under the provisions below:
Students applying for a grant must meet the following conditions:
1. Eligibility for a High School Grant requires documented proof of a 2017 federal adjusted gross income of $91,000 or
less. Grant approval will depend on the availability of funds. Montgomery College will notify students by letter or e-
mail of their grant application status.
2. Students must be properly admitted to Montgomery College and accepted to take courses through MC’s Dual Enrollment
program prior to the posted grant submission deadline. Grants will not be approved and funds will not be applied until
after student is registered for a course.
3. First time applicants must submit a copy of the custodial parents’ 2017 complete federal income tax return. The first
two pages of the tax return, listing the student as a dependent and signed by the parent, is required. This must
accompany the HS grant application. (If a student does not live with both parents, the custodial parent is the one the
student lived with most during the past 12 months.)
4. Students apply for a grant once each semester and must reapply as long as they are still enrolled in high school. For
example: a student must submit an application for fall 2018, winter 2019, spring 2019, and summer 2019 separately.
a. Students who previously applied for a high school grant for fall 2018 and submitted all required
documents to MC do not need to resubmit their 2017 federal tax forms again but must submit an updated
grant application for winter 2019 and spring 2019 in order to be considered for that semester.

in-county tuition, fees and required textbooks for the course(s), depending on financial need and availability of funds.
