Starting a Club at Cascadia College
Level 2 Club
Completing this application form is the first step to forming a new club. Clubs are groups of
students who share a common interest, identity, or objective, meet together regularly, and plan
events and activities on or off-campus. Clubs may be formed around any shared purpose that you
choose, but full participation in the club must be open to all Cascadia students.
Recognized clubs have access to resources such as advising, support, and supplies from Student
Life, room reservations on campus, and funding from Club Council for club events and programs.
Level 2 clubs may also receive funding for travel to field trips, conferences, and competitions.
The two club levels are explained below. The primary difference is: Level 1 clubs are simpler to
get started, while Level 2 clubs are eligible for off-campus travel.
Level 1 Club
- Minimum of 3 members required to start
- Club has one vote at Club Council Meetings
- Club has access to campus resources through the Office of Student Life such as: printing,
posting, poster creation, room reservations, and supply check out
- Can meet regularly on campus and host club meetings
- Can host activities on campus only
- Minimum of 5 members required to start
- A Cascadia College Full Time Faculty or Staff advisor is required
- Club has one vote at Club Council Meetings
- Club has access to campus resources through the Office of Student Life such as: printing,
posting, poster creation, room reservations, and supply check out
- Can meet regularly on campus and host club meetings
- Club has the ability to travel off-campus and take field trips (with their advisor)
Steps to Start a Club:
Find three (3) to five (5) currently enrolled Cascadia students who have similar interests as you
and wish to join your club
Identify a full time faculty or staff member to serve as your club advisor (Level 2 Clubs only)
Completely fill out this Club Application for Recognition and submit it to the Office of Student
Life (ARC 140) or by email to StudentPrograms@Cascadia.edu
Attend the next scheduled Club Council meeting for final approval (Every other Friday)

Important Information for Club Leaders
Club Council Attendance Policy
A club representative is required to attend scheduled Club Council meetings, which occur every
other Friday at 10 AM When a club has 1 unexcused absence, a written warning will be issued.
After two unexcused absences, the club will lose their recognition status. The absence must be
excused at least 24 hours in advance; otherwise the absence may be marked as unex-cused. To
request an absence, an email must be sent to the EAB Clubs Coordinator and the Student Life
Advisor with reason for absence.
Discrimination Policy
No student shall be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, national
origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, marital status, or disability. Hazing of any kind will not be
tolerated and will be subject to the college’s provisions under the student code of conduct.
