Guidelines for Scholarship Applicants
This application allows you to apply for all scholarships available through the
Cascadia College Foundation. All applicants will be notified at the conclusion of the
selection process no later than the last week in April, 2021.

STEP 2: Attach Transcript and Essays
1. Most recent unofficial Cascadia transcript
OR most recent high school or nonCascadia college transcript
2. Three (3) essays described in Section 4 of application
IMPORTANT: Applications are incomplete and will not be considered
without your signature, transcript and essays. Please include your name
on all attachments.

STEP 4: We also recommend that you complete and submit the Free Application for
Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and/or Washington Application for State Financial
Aid (WASFA) to Student Financial Aid Services
US Citizens and eligible noncitizens can find the FAFSA online at
www.fafsa.ed.gov.
A valid FAFSA is one that contains all relevant information required by
Department of Education and contains an Estimated Family Contribution
(EFC).
A valid WASFA is one that contains all relevant information as instructed
by Washington State’s ready.set.grad. program.
Completion of the FAFSA and/or WASFA does not obligate you to accept
loan, grant, or scholarship money from Cascadia College or the Cascadia
College Foundation.
 


IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
When indicating your planned enrollment for the year in section two, be sure to
identify whether you will be enrolling as a “Parttime” or “Fulltime” student each
quarter for which you intend to enroll.
Recipients must enroll in courses at Cascadia College between July 6, 2021 and June
10, 2022 to receive an award. If you do not plan to enroll at Cascadia during this
period, please do not apply for a scholarship.
Students enrolled in the Running Start program for the 202122 academic year (July
6, 2021 June 10, 2022) are not eligible. Students completing Running Start during
the 20202021 academic year and intending to enroll at Cascadia as a general
student during the 202122 year are eligible.
Section 3 of the Application asks you to “selfidentify” regarding information that
our donors and sponsors care about and wish to support through their scholarships.
Your selection(s) allow us to match your application with the most appropriate
award(s). The information you provide will be shared with scholarship donors and
selection committee members. Please consider your selections thoughtfully.
For essay questions #1 and #2, consider including in your responses, career interests,
as well as pertinent personal perspectives and experiences and why these are
important to you.
Plan on enrolling in a minimum of ten (10) credits each quarter you intend to enroll
at Cascadia during the award year.
Generally, award disbursement begins the first quarter you enroll. You may request
a different disbursement schedule.
You accept all responsibility for any impact a Foundation scholarship award may
have on your financial aid package. Student Financial Services will be informed of
your receipt of this award.
Many scholarships are awarded based on criteria other than need. Scholarships are
available for students who are not eligible for federal assistance. All Cascadia
students are encouraged to apply.
APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCESS TIMELINE:
Applications are available beginning the first day of Winter Quarter at the college’s
website (www.cascadia.edu/scholarships). For alternate ways to obtain an
application, please call 4253528301.
Completed applications must be submitted by Friday, March 5, 2021 at 5:00 PM.
Interviews will be conducted via Zoom videoconference. If selected for an interview,
a date and time will be emailed to you by the fourth week in March. Rescheduling
interviews is not permitted.
Award recipients and nonrecipients will be notified of the results of their
application by mail at the address provided in their application no later than the last
week in April.
