CHECKLIST:
Completing a lab report requires attention to detail. You must set up an experiment, run it, and collect data.
Then, you need to write a report documenting the steps you took during the experiment as well as your
results. Use the checklist below as a guide to ensure that you’ve completed all the necessary parts of the
lab experiment.

• Provide at least one (1) sentence that summarizes the
experiment
• Discuss why this lab is relevant to the phenomenon being
studied
• The section needs to be a minimum of three (3) sentences
in length
Research Question
• Ask a question that can be answered through experiment
• Question ends in appropriate punctuation
Hypothesis
• Hypothesis should be taken from the instructions, with the
student’s expectations chosen from the options given.
Independent Variable
• Correctly identify the independent variable
Dependent Variable
• Correctly identify the dependent variable
Materials
• Lists all required materials
Procedures
• Write procedures as a numbered list
• Write procedures in the past tense
• Provide a minimum of ten (10) procedures
• The procedures must be related to the experiment detailed
in Section 7.2
