Summer Youth Job Training Program
Informational Summary
What is SYJTP? The Summer Youth Job Training
Program provides workforce training opportunities for
youth, by teaming with Lexington’s business &
community-based partners.
Why SYJTP is Valuable? SYJTP offers Lexington youth
the opportunity to gain work experience, to develop
interpersonal skills, to learn and explore career interests,
all while earning income during the summer.
What’s New in 2020? Partners for Youth and Fayette
County Public Schools are collaborating to facilitate
meaningful employment experiences.
When does SYJTP Begin? The 2020 SYJTP will run for
6 full weeks, beginning on June 8 and ending on July 17.
Youth Workers will be assigned to worksites by May 15.
Where will the Work Occur? Youth Workers will
report to the assigned operational management of local
businesses, government agencies, or community
organizations.
Who Coordinates SYJTP? Summer Youth Job Training
Program is locally funded, and is administered by
Lexington Social Services. Youth Workers are paid directly
by the city government.
