Onshore Students
The information below is to be supplied to EIT in support of an application for admission to EIT. The Statement of
Purpose (SOP) assists applicants to demonstrate that they satisfy the genuine temporary entrant (GTE) and Genuine
Student (GS) compliance requirements.
We encourage applicants to put as much information into their SOP as possible to help create a holistic view of their
circumstances. Statements should be personalised, as generic statements will not be considered as evidence of
sufficient research or knowledge e.g. saying ‘The course is of good quality and will help me get a job’ would be
unacceptable.
Please note that we can make a decision on a student application with the information provided (including the
information given in this SOP). There is no requirement for EIT’s Admissions Officers to request further information
from an applicant.

1. Why are you wanting to change courses and leave your current education provider?
2. If your application is a change in industry, please explain your decision to come back to engineering? Please
provide detail as to why you initially chose to not continue studying engineering and why you have since decided to
continue these studies.
3. Provide an explanation of your current and previous onshore study (whilst you have been in Australia). If your
onshore studies show poor results please provide detailed reasons for this.

provider. Please include the details of the research you did into EIT and other relevant providers.
