Practitioner Registry Appeal for Career Path Level
You may appeal to the Practitioner Registry Review Committee if you feel the level that you were placed at is in-
correct. The purpose of the appeal process is for college coursework only, appeals regarding years of experience in
leu of college credit will not be considered.
If you wish to appeal, you must meet the following requirements:
1. Current on the Practitioner Registry
2. 1,000 hours working in an early childhood setting. Early childhood settings are programs offering services to
young children and their families including administrative and teacher/caregiver roles, or programs that conduct
training or education in early childhood.
3. College coursework or degree from regionally accredited colleges or universities. In order to count towards a
level on the Career Path, college credits and degrees must be from a regionally accredited college or university.

www.ope.ed.gov/accreditation, There are six accrediting bodies, view the info sheet HERE.

All credits and degrees must be from regionally accredited colleges and universities and carry a letter grade of
C or better. Pass/Fail classes and classes for less than 2 semester college credits will not count towards EC
Credits on the Career Path. Quarter credits are converted to semester credits by dividing the total number of
quarter credits by 1.5. For requirements that include 12 semester college credits, those early childhood cred-
its can fall in any knowledge base area below. For requirements that include 20 semester college credits,
those early childhood credits must fall within six of the areas below with four required areas noted with an *
(asterick).
