Tuition Guidelines for Undocumented Students
Under the law, students who are not residents of New York State are eligible for the
resident rate of tuition if they meet one of the following criteria:
1. You attended an approved New York State high school for at least two years
and graduated from an approved NYS high school, and applied for attendance at
CUNY within 5 years of receiving a NYS diploma.
or
2. You attended an approved New York State program for General Equivalency
Diploma preparation, received a Genera; Equivalency Diploma issued within
NYS, and applied for attendance at CUNY within 5 years of receiving a General
Equivalency Diploma .
or
3. You were enrolled in CUNY in Fall 2001 and were authorized by CUNY to pay
tuition at the resident rate.
The resident tuition rate is $2,400.00 per semester for full-time matriculated students.
Non-resident tuition rate is $320 per tuition unit with no maximum cap for
matriculated students.
Students without lawful immigration status must file an affidavit stating that they have
filed or will file an application to legalize their immigration status as soon as they are
eligible to do so.
