Junior Leadership Johnston County
MISSION:
Junior Leadership Johnston is a program to assist emerging youth in their efforts to
prepare for leadership positions in business, community, education and government affairs
in their future endeavors.
INSTRUCTIONS:
◊ Complete the application in its entirety.
◊ Use correct grammar and punctuation.
◊ Have someone proofread the application for completion and errors, before submitting
to the Advisory Board.
◊ Complete the application electronically or use an ink pen and print legibly.
PROGRAM SPECIFICS:
◊ At least one student will be selected from each high school
◊ The summer program will be held June 15-19, 2020
◊ A mandatory orientation will be held prior to the program week to familiarize
parents and/or guardians and participants with the specifics of the program
◊ Participants will be involved in activities each day including, but not limited to: self-
assessments, teambuilding, communication, presentation skills, etc. as well as tours
of local businesses, industries and agencies
◊ Participants will work in teams to produce a presentation related to the week of
activities, to be presented during the banquet on June 19, 2020
PARTICIPANT CRITERIA:
◊ Must be a current sophomore (rising junior for 2020-2021 school year)
◊ Must be in good academic standing with their respective high school
◊ Must attend public high school, charter school, private school or be home schooled in
Johnston County
◊ Must participate in all sessions if selected
◊ Must complete and submit application and reference letter to:

Lunch and snacks will be provided daily. Participants will receive a t-shirt, as well as a
certificate of completion at the end of the week-long program.
Participants MUST agree to attend ALL 5 days of the summer program and the
banquet to graduate with a certificate from the program.
