Application for Admission

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
• Please refer to pages 2–5 in the application booklet for detailed application
instructions or see www.montana.edu/international/admissions/appinstructions.htm.
• Print clearly or type. Be sure to complete all questions and note that several
statements in the application require signatures.
• A non-re
fundable application fee of US$30 is required before the application can be
processed. This fee cannot be waived or deferred.
• Itisacceptabletoreturnthecompletedapplicationform,thefinancialstatement
andsupportingfinancialdocumentsviaemail to globalstudy@montana.edu.
However, academicdocumentsandexamscoresmustbeofficialandoriginal,and
therefore must be sent by mail.
• Allrequirededucationaldocuments(transcripts,marksheets,examresults,
certificatesdiplomas,etc.)mustbeoriginalorcertifiedtruecopies.Theymustbe
stampedandsignedbyaschoolofficialandsenttoMSUdirectlybytheissuing
school or sealed closed in a school envelope to be mailed by the applicant.
Photocopies are acceptable for admission purposes only. Originals must be
provided at enrollment.
• AnexactEnglishtranslationmustbeprovidedforanyacademicdocumentthatis
notwritteninEnglish.
• Examscores(suchasTOEFLorSAT)mustbesenttoMSUdirectlyfromthetesting
agency. Student copies cannot be accepted.
• Abankstatementorotherformofdocumentationoffinancialsupportmustbe
providedtoassurethatfundsareavailableforthefirstyearofstudy.
• Ifyouareapplyingasatransferstudent,MSUInternationalAdmissionswillnotifyyou
if we require further information to evaluate your academic credentials.

• AllinternationalundergraduateapplicationsareautomaticallyreviewedforOffice
of International Programs scholarships.
• SAT score-based scholarships are automatically awarded to many freshmen
enteringMSU.
• Superiorstudentswhowillbefirstyear(freshmen)atMSUmayapplyforthe
PresidentialScholarship.Thisisanextremelycompetitivescholarship;applications
aredueinNovemberforthenextFallsemester.Seewww.montana.edu/honors for
information and required forms.
WHEN TO APPLY
• Applications can be started up to one year in advance of the beginning of the
desiredtermofentry(forexampleinSeptember2016forentranceinSeptember
2017).Applyingatleastsixmonthsearlyisstronglyencouragedtoallowsufficient
timeforprocessingtheapplicationandtheexchangeofdocuments,obtaining
a student visa and arranging travel. Applications that are submitted without
sufficienttimeforprocessingwillbeconsideredforthenextterm.
• Scholarship applicants should apply early.
• On-campus housing is guaranteed for all undergraduate students, but early
applicantsaremostlikelytobeassignedtotheirpreferredresidencehall.
