The Rockford Fire Department responded to 3520 Robey for a single car detached garage fire. Ladder 9
arrived two minutes after dispatch to find the garage totally engulfed in flames, and the fire spreading to
a neighboring duplex. The rear unit of this duplex, addressed 3522 Robey, sustained about $50,000
damage to its kitchen and attic area. Firefighters were able to clear the unit of human life and found a
cat that was alive and well. The front unit of this duplex, 3524 Robey, sustained much less damage that
is estimated at $2000. A neighboring house to the south, 3516 Robey, received heat damage to some of
its siding. That is estimated at $2000. The cause of the fire is under investigation and there were no
injuries.
