The B.C. Access Grant for Labour Market Priorities has been discontinued effective program year 2020-21.
Students who have received student financial assistance for program year 2019-20 and are applying for the relocation
component of the grant can apply up until their study period end date.
WHAT DOES THE RELOCATION COMPONENT OF THE BC ACCESS GRANT COVER?
The grant is intended to assist students who move from their BC home community to a BC public post-secondary institution with
vacant seats in high demand labour market priority trades programs (listed below).
The award is based on the distance that you are required to move, by the most direct route, to attend studies:
• 100 - 500 kilometres $2,000
• 501 - 1,000 kilometres $3,000
• More than 1,000 kilometres $4,000
AM I ELIGIBLE?
To be eligible for this grant you must:
• Demonstrate financial need through a StudentAid BC full-time application, and;
• Be enrolled in an eligible targeted program at an eligible BC public post-secondary institution, and;
• Have moved at least 100 kilometres to attend post-secondary studies.
• Students moving to the lower mainland to attend British Columbia Institute of Technology, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, or
Vancouver Community College are not eligible.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
• You will be notified in writing of the outcome of your application.
• Cheques will be issued after you are confirmed as enrolled in eligible studies. This means your cheque will arrive after your
studies have started.
• Grants are taxable income and you will receive a T4A.
• Your complete and correct application must be received by StudentAid BC at least 6 weeks before the DATE CLASSES END
as indicated on your full-time application.
