Application for: TUG Pre-Power
Applicant’s Statement:
In consideration for authorizing the appropriate utility company to energize the facility; we agree to and understand the
following:
1. This Tug/Pre-power application is valid for one-and two-family dwellings only.
2. This TUG/Pre-power approval is valid for the maximum of 180 days from the date of approval.
3. The building will not be occupied until certificate of occupancy has been issued. I/We understand that if the building is
occupied before a certificate of occupancy has been issued the Building Official will have the right to direct the utility to
terminate electrical service without notice. Furthermore, I/We understand and agree that should the Building Official
exercise such right, Pinellas County BDRS will not be responsible for any damage or cost which may result from the
exercise of such right. Also, in the event any third party claims damage from the exercise of such right, I/We agree to
jointly and individually indemnify and hold harmless the Pinellas County BDRS from all such damages and cost,
including attorney’s fees.
4. Prior to pre-power, the building or structure shall be weather-tight and secure. The electric wiring in the area designated
for pre-power shall be complete and in safe order. All electric services associated with the area will be 100% complete
unless specifically approved by the electrical inspector.
5. Interior electric rooms shall be lockable; if electric panels are in an area that cannot be locked by doors, the panel shall
be equipped with a locking mechanism (approved by the Building Official). The licensed electrical contractor or his
licensed representative shall hold the keys for such access to electrical panels to prevent energizing circuits other than
those that are safe.
6. TUG approval is for service and GFCI outlets only.
Requirements for TUG and Pre-Power Inspections
Available for One- and Two-Family Dwellings Only
The following must be complete prior to pre-power being approved: The following must be completed prior to TUG being approved:
1. Pre-power form must be completed and fees must be paid.
2. The service and that part of the electrical system to be
energized must be 100% complete.
3. Panels that are to be energized must have breakers installed,
wire pulled, and an electrical inspection completed before it will
be energized.
4. The breakers and the covers on all panels that are going to be
energized must be labeled (labels can be temporary).
5. Panels must be locked or contained in a room that is locked,
the electrician and superintendent ONLY should have the
keys.
6. All outlets must be safe either by installation of devices,
equipment, lighting fixtures, or blanked off.
7. Device covers must be installed.
TUG approval is for service and GFCI outlets only
1. TUG form must be completed and fees must be paid.
2. Permanent service must be installed on structure.
3. Service must be properly grounded and surge arrestor must be
installed.
4. Service panel must be protected from weather and physical
damage.
5. GFCI outlets must be installed.
6. Sign must be affixed to electrical panel warning of
“ENERGIZED PARTS”.
