Your contract for employment as a Resident Assistant calls for a commitment of approximately 20 hours per
week to the job. University policy limits on-campus employment to 20 hours per week. Please be aware by
accepting a position as a Resident Assistant, you will be required to limit your other employment
opportunities both on and off campus. Please answer all the questions listed below and e-mail your
completed application to scott.schroeder@msun.edu feel free to attach additional pages if needed. Your
position as a Resident Assistant is dependent on an acceptable background check.
In order to be considered in the RA selection process, you must submit a completed application.
Applications received before May 10, 2020 will be given preference, but applications will be accepted until
all positions are filled. Please answer the following questions, each in 250 words or less:

5. Role Model: As a Resident Assistant, you must lead by example. This means you must always support
campus policies and abide by them. Are there any campus policies you would have a difficult time
supporting and following?
6. Community Builder: As a Resident Assistant, you are responsible for developing programs that will bring
people together based on their interests and needs. You must also create a positive environment on your
floor/building where residents can feel safe and comfortable. With this in mind, what are three things you
would like to do for your floor as a Resident Assistant?
7. Student: A Resident Assistant is primarily a student. Your main focus should be on your academic work.
However, the Resident Assistant position is your second priority after you academics. This means that any
sports or co-curricular/extracurricular activity commitments must always come after your commitment as
a Resident Assistant. Are you willing to make this commitment? What co-curricular/extra-curricular
activities do anticipate being involved in next year?
8. Policy Enforcer: You must encourage residents and other students to be accountable for their actions. As a
Resident Assistant, you will address policy violations directly and promote personal responsibility among
the community. What challenges do you anticipate having in this role?
