Student Emergency Financial Aid Presidential Award
Guiding Principles
The LCCC Foundation allocated funds for Presidential Emergency Scholarships in recognition of the Inauguration of Dr. Bieber,
the fih President of LCCC. While the Foundation set no restrictions for the awards, the following guiding principles will be followed:
Are You in Need of Serious Help?
Attending college requires most students to balance a combination of scholarships, grants, loans and personal savings to aord
college. Unfortunately, unexpected events can interrupt a student’s college career. Student Emergency Financial Aid funds help
students recover from unexpected financial diiculties and to avoid the last resort of abandoning a promising college career. It is
for students in extreme circumstances or in a time of crisis.
How Student Emergency Financial Aid Works
Emergency financial aid can take a variety of forms, including tuition credits, bus passes, day care assistance, bookstore vouchers,
and cafeteria vouchers. The financial assistance is designed to help students avoid an interruption in their college studies resulting
from unforeseen situations including:
• A sudden health emergency
• Unexpected loss of income
• Death in the family or other family emergency
• Natural disaster
Emergency financial aid is only provided for extenuating situations and, to qualify, students must meet stringent criteria.
• Applicants must be full-time students or part-time students with 9 or more credits.
• Minimum 2.0 GPA.
• Request is a one-time award.
• Documentation is required of the crisis leading to the need for emergency funds.
Completed applications should be submitted to the President’s Oice. Applications will be considered on an ongoing basis until all
funds are exhausted, with decisions rendered within 10 days of receipt.
