Mark Joel has served as the Durham District School Board Superintendent of Education/Operations/Transportation and
Leadership Development. He marked the end of his career with the Board at the end of August 2014, after 35 years in public
education. This award has been established in his honour to provide a $500 scholarship to a student expressing a desire to
pursue studies in education.
Applications must be submitted by the last Thursday in March to the selection committee, through the Chair of the
Activating Success Awards Committee, Tracey Grose at Tracey.Grose@ddsb.ca
