These city guidelines must be followed before you purchase or plant a tree in the city boulevard.
Diggers Hotline must be call at least 72 hours prior to digging any holes, 1-800-242-8511.
DISTANCES FROM:
Water and fire hydrants
10-15’
Gas

Street lights
20-25’, depending on size of street light
Road edge
At least 20’ to prevent conflict with snow storage and maintenance issues. No evergreens
planted within 25’ of road edge due to sightline issues, growth form, and pruning challenges.
Corner
Nothing over 2.5’ high is allowed to obstruct views within 25’ of the corner of the pavement (for
sightline/safety).
Stop signs

There are specific criteria. Ask Xcel Energy or check their website for guidelines.
Previous trees
Minimum of 5’ from previous tree stump
Property lines
Be sure to give the tree room so that its mature canopy will be on your property. Do not restrict
a neighbor’s free use of their yard.
