Online Tutoring Overview
Central Council of the Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska (Central Council) in partnership with the
Juneau School District Indian Studies Program, Juneau Johnson O’Malley program, Sealaska Corporation,
Goldbelt Inc., and Alaska Native Brotherhood and Sisterhood Camp 70, is pleased to offer online tutoring
scholarships for tribal students. Scholarships cover the cost of online mathematics subscriptions for 3
rd
– 12
th
grade, and licenses and materials for ACT (American College Testing) and SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test)
preparation. Scholarships are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and contingent upon funding.
ALEKS (www.aleks.com) is a mathematics
program that uses artificial intelligence and
adaptive questioning to assess a student’s
knowledge and delivers individualized instruction
on the exact topics a student is most ready to learn.
The online mathematics tutorial programs are self-
explanatory systems that offer continual
assessment, individualized learning paths, and
immediate feedback to encourage students as they
progress, allowing students to master foundational
concepts before moving on to the next. Up to date
progress reports are also available to parents and
teachers. Online support is provided and study
sessions and program demonstrations will be
scheduled to offer assistance to students, parents,
teachers, and administrators. The programs
currently being offered are 5-month subscriptions
for third – twelfth grade, and advanced level
courses.
Green Test Prep (www.greentestprep.com) is a
self-guided, step-by-step SAT and ACT prep
system that improves its average student’s scores
by over 346 points on the SAT and 4.66 points on
the ACT.
Green Test Prep offers comprehensive online prep
systems for the new SAT and ACT. The license
provides unlimited, never-expiring access to
proven curriculum, strategies, and tactics for SAT
and ACT math, reading, writing, English, science,
and essay sections. Green Test Prep incorporates
supplementary problems to hone skills, and real
practice ACTs and SATs to track progress and
improve test-taking abilities. The system is web-
based, accessible through any web-browser and
available from any internet connected device.
Green Test Prep works for students of all levels of
advancement and is adaptable to individualized
schedules, timelines, strengths, and weaknesses.
Users can advance at their own pace.
