THE IMPORTANCE OF DIAGNOSTIC QUIZZES
These quizzes are designed to help students test their core competencies and focus on areas where they may be
lacking prerequisite knowledge. With an immediate connection to a tutor, students can begin to address the areas
where they’re struggling to avoid falling behind, reducing the risk of withdrawal from a course.
Every student is unique, as are their academic challenges. Students come to a course excited to learn new
academic concepts, but they often face knowledge gaps that may be an obstacle to success. The key to helping
these students is being able to identify their individual knowledge gaps before they snowball into a barrier for
advancement.
With Tutor.com’s diagnostic quizzes, we help you identify where students are having trouble and connect them
with the help they need with the push of a button—at the time and place that works best for them.
DATA AND ANALYTICS FROM DIAGNOSTIC QUIZZES
Tutor.com provides real-time access to score reports from diagnostic quizzes taken by your students. Our data
and analytics will help you:
• Identify the questions answered incorrectly by specific students so that faculty, advisors and/or success
coaches can better plan targeted outreach and intervention.
• Identify the topics (questions) in aggregate that students missed from a specific course to inform curriculum
and instructional design.
HOW IT WORKS
• Students answer 10-25 multiple choice questions aligned to a specific
subtopic within a subject. For example, inequalities in algebra.
• Students receive a score report indicating which questions the
student got wrong.
• For each missed question, a Discuss with a Tutor button connects a
student with an expert tutor. The question is transferred to the tutor,
who works with the student to help them master that specific topic.
