DUPLICATE LICENSE PLATE APPLICATION
(NRS 482.500)
The registered owner of a vehicle may request Duplicate license plates to replace their currently registered license plates
using the same combination of letters and/or numbers.
License plates that have been reported as stolen MAY NOT be duplicated. Plates that have been surrendered may be
duplicated within 18 months of surrendering the plates.
Old style “Blue” license plates with dashes may not be duplicated. However, they may be converted to Circa 1982 Replica
license plates for the Duplicate license plate fee of $10.00 plus $0.50 per plate Prison Industry Fee if the plate is active. If
the license plate has been expired for more than 18 months, the cost is $25.00 plus $1.00
(.50¢ per plate) Prison Industry Fee,
and a $1.00 Technology fee.
The fee for
Duplicate license plates is $18.00, which includes a Plate Production fee of $3.00 per plate, Prison Industry
fee of $0.50 per plate, and a Technology fee of $1.00 for standard issue license plates. Circa 1982 and Specialty License
Plate fees are $12.00, $10.00 Duplicate license plate fee, $0.50 per plate Prison Industry fee, and a $1.00 Technology fee.

licate license plate(s) will be mailed to the current address of record maintained by the Department. If you ordered
your Duplicate license plates via mail or by fax to the Carson City DMV, your plates will be forwarded to the DMV location
specified on the application and you will be notified by mail and/or telephone when the plates are available to be picked up.
If your vehicle is currently registered, you have the option of maintaining your current vehicle registration expiration date, or
renewing for a full 12-month period. Credit for any unused portion of your current registration will be allowed. In applicable
counties, if you are renewing for a full 12-month period, and your previous evidence of compliance with emissions standards
was obtained more than 90 days ago, the vehicle must be re-inspected prior to registration.
