A Proclamation Recognizing April
as Optimist Internet Safety Month
Whereas, internet safety is a growing concern facing children worldwide; and
Whereas, almost all children have access to the internet, either at home, school, a friend’s house or the local library; and
Whereas, the popularity of social networking sites has shown an increase in the posting of youth and teens’ personal
information online; and
Whereas, internet safety has been discussed heavily in the media and by several government agencies; and
Whereas, Optimists have reaffirmed their dedication to the youth of today by introducing a new Internet Safety Program
to educate parents, teachers and youth about the dangers of the internet;
Therefore, let it be resolved that the city of proclaims the month of April in the year
as Optimist Internet Safety Month.
