Grant Purpose
The Clarion University-Wide Faculty Professional Development Committee (University-Wide
FPDC) Grant is designed to encourage continuous attention to the professional growth and
development of Clarion University Faculty as teaching scholars; and to support faculty in
reaching and maintaining a high professional standard in relationship to their subject matter,
teaching, scholarly activity, and public service.
General Eligibility and Award Information
1. Who?
a. All Clarion University faculty members may apply.
b. Each faculty member may only submit one proposal.
c. Any faculty member on the University-Wide FPDC who applies must refrain from
review/voting for the affected cycle.
2. When?
a. The Fall semester call for proposals supports current fiscal/academic year
expenditures prior to June 30.
b. The Spring semester call for proposals supports expenditures starting in the new
fiscal/academic year.
c. Awardees will be notified prior to the end of each semester.
3. How much?-
a. The Provost has set aside $10,000 for distribution for each semester.
b. Applicants can request up to $1,000 for individual proposals and up to $2,500 for
multidisciplinary proposals (multiple faculty/multiple departments).
4. Details-
a. Proposals that include research with human or animal subjects require IRB or
IACUC approval.
b. Funds may be for research, travel (ie: research-related, conference
presentation/panel-related), and internal trainings/workshops (ie: educational
events, contractual speakers).
c. Funds may not be used to pay faculty/staff salaries, stipends, or release time.
