In person: Bring the documents listed above and your filing fee to the courthouse and file them
with the Clerk of Court. All documents are electronically filed and will be emailed to you
after processing. You must provide a valid email address when filing.
Online: You can upload your documents at https://nevada.tylerhost.net/OfsWeb/. The Order for
Service by Publication cannot be filed online - it must be mailed or brought to the courthouse.
Mail or Drop Off Your Paperwork: Bring both orders and all of the paperwork you filed to the
courthouse. Submit the paperwork to the department your case is assigned to.
The judge will review your papers, and decide whether to sign the order waiving service or the order
to have you publish. You will receive your papers back after the judge reviews them. This can take
1-3 weeks.
If there is a problem with your paperwork, you will receive a memo from the judge’s staff letting
you know what needs to be fixed. You will have to fix the problem and resubmit.
Change Your Court Date If Needed: If you have to publish, the publication must run for 4
weeks, and must end at least 20 days before your hearing date. If your hearing date is
coming up sooner than that, change your court date BEFORE you start publishing in the
newspaper.
Contact a Newspaper to Publish the Citation for 4 Consecutive Weeks:
Discuss costs and the process directly with the newspaper. Newspapers commonly used are:
o Nevada Legal News, (702) 382-2747
o Review-Journal and Sun, (702) 383-0383
You will usually have to give the newspaper a copy of your Order to Serve by Publication
and a copy of the Citation. Make sure the names of all of the relatives you are serving by
publication are listed on the Citation.
The newspaper will usually file an Affidavit of Publication once complete. If they do not, be
sure to bring the affidavit to the courthouse for filing.
