GOOD NEIGHBOR PLANTING
CONSENT FORM
(CITY CODE 3.05.007(f))
Instructions
This form is to be used when you are required to replant REPLACEMENT TREES as a
condition of a Tree Removal Permit and you wish to replant one or more
REPLACEMENT TREES on another property.
1. Identify the types and sizes of REPLACEMENT TREES you would like to replant
on a property that is not your own.
2. Talk to your direct neighbors to ask permission for a space to plant one or more
REPLACEMENT TREE(s) of the type and size required on one or more
properties or ask the City for a list of areas within the City identified by the City
Arborist for accepting REPLACEMENT TREES of the type and size required.
3. Once you have selected the species of REPLACEMENT TREE to plant, fill this
form out completely and legibly. All information is required. Incomplete
forms will be subject to delay.
4. Fill out a separate Good Neighbor Planting Consent Form for each neighbor
property where a REPLACEMENT TREE will be planted.
5. Submit the completed Good Neighbor Planting Consent Form(s) to the City
with your Tree Removal Permit application.
Tree Planting Standards
- REPLACEMENT TREE planting must comply with all applicable requirements
of City Code 3.05, Division 2.
- Tree species should be selected for the type of REPLACEMENT TREE
REQUIRED (either the Protected Tree List or 20ft Tree List), that is applicable
for the planting space. For example, for a REPLACEMENT TREE species to be
selected from the 20ft Tree List for planting in a neighbors space, the space
must be within 20 ft of an above-ground utility line. For a REPLACEMENT
TREE species to be selected from the Protected Tree List, the space must be
farther than 20 ft from an above-ground utility line.
- Newly planted REPLACEMENT TREES must be watered during the dry summer
months (May to October) for at least the first three years after planting,
depending on type of tree. Trees should be watered slowly to penetrate the
soil deeply.
- Trees must survive for at least three years after planting or must be replaced by
the permit holder as agreed to below.
