SRBCI COVID-19 Tribal Rent/Mortgage Assistance Program Policy
Due to health and safety concerns relating to the COVID-19 virus, the Santa Rosa Band of Cahuilla
Indians has enacted Tribal Council Resolution 04162020 for the COVID-10 Pandemic declaring a State of
Emergency for the Santa Rosa Indian Reservation on April 16
th
, 2020. The Tribal Council decided to
follow suite with the President of the United States’ proclamation declaring a National Emergency in
addition to the Governor of California’s declared State of Emergency on March 4
th
, 2020 and the
enacted Executive Order N-33-20 on March 19
th
, 2020, requiring individuals living in the State of
California to shelter at home or at their place of residence except as needed to maintain continuity of
operations of the federal critical infrastructure sectors.
To help ease the economic burden of our Tribal Members, for a 6-month period beginning from July
2020 ending December 2020, enrolled adult Tribal Members on and off the reservation may request up
to $250.00 reimbursement allowance for rent/mortgage payments per month. Any remaining balance
on an individual’s monthly rent or mortgage payment is their sole responsibility.
All requests must be submitted to the Finance Department on a “SRBCI COVID-19 Tribal Rent/Mortgage
Assistance Program Request Form” and be accompanied by a signed rental/mortgage agreement and
proof of payment. The requesting Tribal Member must be named within the agreement as either the
leaseholder/mortgage holder, a tenant, or a cosigner. Additional proof of residency will be required if
the Tribal Member is not named within the rental/mortgage agreement*. Funds are on a first come,
first served basis, and are limited to one (1) requestor per household/residence per month. Requests

*Acceptable documents for proof of residency include, but are not limited to valid state issued or tribal ID’s with
current physical address, pay stubs, other utility bills in requestors name, voided checks with physical address on
them, and/or letter from landlord with the contact information for verification, etc.
