OPEN AUDITIONS: REVOLUTIONARY READING SERIES
Three separate and distinctly directed plays about insurgency are given passionate voice by a
talented collection of student, staff, faculty, and community actors, followed by post-reading
discussions. (No memorization required.)
Revolutionary Reading Series Line-Up:
• Friday, 9/29, 7:30 p.m.: 12 Angry Jurors, directed by Daniel Johnston
• Saturday, 9/30, 7:30 p.m.: One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, directed by Susan G. Kramer
• Sunday, 10/01, 3:00 p.m.: The Penelopiad, directed by Tara Hart
Audition Dates, Casting, Prep, Etc.:
• Dates: Tuesday, September 5 and Wednesday, September 6
• Actor Sign-In: 6:30pm
• Time: 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
• Location: Monteabaro Recital Hall, HVPA 130
• Prep: Audition Sides & Scripts: Sides (scenes read during auditions) and scripts (for 3-hour
perusal) will be available Tuesday, August 8, in the Arts & Humanities Division Office (HVPA 200).
• Casting: The Cast List will be posted on AC’s website approximately September 8.
Commitment / Number of Rehearsals, Etc.:
Casting and rehearsals are based on the availability you provide via the calendar grid on Page 2.
Rehearsal Expectations:
- Approximately 3 all-call rehearsals, per play reading may be scheduled.

If needed, one or two
additional rehearsals with individuals or small groups may be scheduled.
Directors’ Notes:
Auditionees will read brief scenes from all plays featured in AC’s Reading Series during auditions.
Casting:
- Participation: Actors are asked to note their participation level on Page 2.
- For actors who would like to participate in specific readings: The directors will take this into
consideration, however, casting decisions will be at the director’s discretion.
- The directors will make every attempt to stagger rehearsals in order for actors to participate in as
many as possible.
Style/ Presentation: All play readings will be present
ed in a traditional format; actors will be seated
and may be given minor blocking. Scripts will be placed on music stands; no memorization.
