The instruction should address topics pertaining to work the person will perform.
1. Identify locations where radiation sources are used or stored in the lab.
2. Identify radiation signs and labels.
3. Become familiar with procedures for safe use, including protective measures, supervision requirements,
ALARA precautions and laboratory security.
4. Receipt and disposal procedures, including proper labeling and documentation.
5. Emergency procedures, including what to do in the event of a spill or fire.
6. Responsibility to comply with provisions of the Radiation Safety Manual and Ohio Department of Health
rules.
7. Availability of exposure reports through the Radiation Safety Office.
8. Report potential violations of regulations and unsafe practices to a supervisor or the RSO.
9. Briefly review biological effects associated with exposure to radiation sources.
10. Presence of and precautions for non-radiation hazards in the lab.
