Standardized placement scores demonstrate college level academic readiness according to guidelines
determined by the State of Arkansas. All students who have not yet completed a college level math
course and received an ACT Math score of 17 or below, will need to take the math portion of the
$FFXSODFHU. Students testing below 19 on the English and/or Reading portions of the ACT will need to take the
reading and writing portion of $FFXSODFHU.
Developmental Courses
Only 12
th
grade students who have at least a 17 ACT sub-score in English, Reading or Math may enroll in
Developmental Courses in English, Reading or Math. Students can also take the ACT COMPASS test if their
ACT sub scores are not a 17 or higher. NWACC offers the following developmental courses: READ 0033
College Reading, ENGL 0063 Intermediate Writing, MATH 0013 Pre-Algebra, MATH 0053 Beginning Algebra,
and MATH 0103 Intermediate Algebra.
Waivers
A wavier to NWACC for permission to take concurrent classes may be filed by a student who has a grade point
average slightly below a 3.0 GPA and/or from a student who would like to take more than seven (7) college
credit hours during a given semester. A copy of the high school transcript will be required to file with the
waiver. The waiver is included in this packet. Waivers require the high school counselor’s signature after the
student as completed the form.
Registration
How do I register for a course?
Our registration packet is available from our website http://www.nwacc.edu/web/apply/concurrent-student/.
Once the registration form has been completed and you have completed the On-Campus Concurrent
Student Orientation Class you will make an appointment with one of the Concurrent Advisors to be registered
for classes. Completed form must have high school counselor signature, student signature and
parent/guardian signature if student is under 18 years of age. All class information including CRN, time and
date must be completed prior to obtaining high school counselor’s signature. If the cumulative GPA is
lower than 3.0 for general education courses, 2.0 for career & technical courses or requesting to enroll
in more than 7 hours the waiver form (found in the registration packet) must be completed.
An updated Concurrent Registration Form is required each semester in order to register for courses for the
On-Campus Concurrent Program. You will not be able to register for classes online. You will need to
schedule an appointment with one of the Concurrent Advisors. You will also not be able to drop a
class online. If you need to drop or change your schedule, please contact your Concurrent Advisor.
