FOUNDING MEMBERS SCHOLARSHIP OVERVIEW
Cypress-Woodlands Junior Forum (CWJF) is proud to offer graduating senior women
the opportunity to apply for a Cypress-Woodlands Junior Forum Founding
Members Scholarship. Scholarship recipients will be chosen from qualified applicants
in all high schools in the Conroe, Klein, Magnolia, Spring and Tomball public
school districts and from students who attend Cypress Creek, Cypress Woods,
Cypress-Fairbanks, and Jersey Village high schools in Cypress-Fairba
n ks ISD.
The Cypress-Woodlands Junior Forum Founding Members’ Scholarship is open to all
young women regardless of race, color, creed, or national origin. Each $1,000
scholarship will be awarded in May of the current school calendar year. The scholarship
recipient will be selected from information submitted on their application and through
a personal interview process. If an applicant is unable to attend her scheduled
interview, consideration may be based on her application only. An impartial panel of
the Community Outreach Committee of CWJF will administer the selection process.
No relative of any CWJF member is eligible for this scholarship.
Qualifications Are Based on the Following in Order of Priority
1) Community Service (Primarily) : CWJF believes that community service builds strong
individuals committed to excellence and opportunity for all. Consideration will be
given to volunteer service in the community community sponsored as well as in school
sponsored volunteer organizations. For example, volunteer service may be performed
through hospitals, religious or volunteer organization and community sponsored charitable
projects.
2) Academic Performance: CWJF strongly supports academic excellence and the
discipline and hard work required to meet college admission standards, as well as the
ability to maintain full-time student status.
3) Financial Need: CWJF believes in educational opportunity and access for all.
Each of the applications will be considered based on individual need.
The primary consideration in the selection process is to reward, honor, and
encourage students who have dedicated their time and energies to improving their
world through heartfelt community service.
Cypress-Woodlands Junior Forum is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), volunteer
service organization. Founded in 1982, CWJF is one of nine chapters of Junior
Forums, Incorporated, which originated in Houston, Texas in 1946. CWJF is a growing
organization of women dedicated to providing volunteer services, leadership and
philanthropy. In partnership with individuals, families, schools, organizations and
corporations, CWJF strives to fulfill identified needs in an evolving community where
the participation of its members can be most effective encompassing education,
crisis intervention, interactions with an aging population and support for people with
disabilities. CWJF is widely recognized for its
compassion, integrity and steadfast
involvement in community outreach. CWJF is dedicated to making a difference in the
lives of children, families, and seniors
