Alumni Loyalty Scholarship Information & Application
Purpose
The purpose of the Alumni Loyalty Scholarship is to provide funds for Wayland Baptist University students who have had
immediate family members attend Wayland and demonstrate financial need to complete their education. It is also meant to
assist students who embody the spirit of the Wayland family legacy through their spirit, loyalty and involvement on campus.
Awards
Scholarships are available annually to benefit students for both fall and spring terms, provided they continue to qualify.
Scholarships are available in amounts up to $1000 annually, and the number of scholarships will vary based on student need
and endowment funds available. Awards are for one year only, but recipients may re-apply for a second year. Scholarships are
not guaranteed; applications will be judged by an alumni committee and recipients will be chosen by Aug. 1 before the fall
term begins. All scholarship awards will be applied directly to the student’s Wayland account and may not exceed the balance
owed.
Eligibility
1. Applicants must be full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate students attending any of Wayland’s campuses or WBUOnline.
2. Applicants already attending Wayland must have at least a 2.5 GPA to qualify and be in good standing with the Dean of
Students’ office.
3. Incoming freshmen are eligible to apply as long as they are granted regular admission. Incoming transfers must have at least
a 2.5 GPA upon admission to qualify.
4. Applicants must have had a parent, sibling or grandparent attend Wayland for at least two years and be able to provide
those legacy names.
The Alumni Loyalty Scholarships are awarded without regard to race, sex, religion, age, national origin or sexual orientation.
The Wayland Alumni Association will not award scholarships to applicants who are not qualified and reserves the right to not
award a scholarship.
Submission of Application Form
The application form starting on page 2 is a fillable pdf file. Fill it out completely electronically, then “Save a Copy.” Note that
the application requires a signature. You may provide an electronic signature, or print out the completed application, sign it
and either scan it as a pdf or mail in the printed application. The application is due to the Alumni Office by April 1.
