According to the rules of the Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) program from EM 17-009, which took effect
in Fall 2018, all students must complete TWO upper-division courses with an emphasis on writing (called W-
courses). One course must be a GWAR course (previously called a WP course), which is part of the student’s
major.

upper-division W-course in or specified by the department of the student’s major”.
