personsbediscontinuedwhenthestudentceasestoattendortomakesatisfactoryprogresstowardcompletionof
theirtra
iningobjective.Theschoolisrequiredtohaveandtoenforcestandardsofprogressandconductforthe
programstobeapprovedforVeteransAdministrationBenefits.Nopaymentofeducationbenefitswillbemadefor
coursesforwhichthegradeassignedisnotusedwhencomputinggraduationrequirements.
ATTENDANCE:Regularattendanceatallclasssessionsisaprimaryobligationofthestudent. Boththesuccessful
completionofcollegeworkandthefinancialsupportofthecollegearedependentonregularattendance.Anormal
classperiodis50minutesinlengthandstudentsarerequiredtoremainfortheentireperiod. Eac
hcollege
instructorwillexplaintheabsencepolicyforhisorherclassatthebeginningofthesemester;however,failureto
attendregularlymayresultinareductionofthestudent’sfinalgrade,orinthestudentbeingdroppedfromtheclass
altogether.Intheeventofaprolongedillnes
s,instructorsshouldbenotified. VeteransshouldcontacttheVeterans
CenterCoordinator.
ADD/DROPPERIOD: Theadd/dropperiodisabriefperiodatthebeginningofasemesterofficiallydesignatedbythe
schoolforunrestrictedenrollmentchangesbystudents.Thefirsttwoweeksofsemesterlengthclassesare
consideredtheadd/dropperiodwherenopenaltyisassessedingradepointaverage(GPA)determination.Other

EXTENUATINGCIRCUMSTANCES:Circumstanceswhichdirectlyhinderthestudent'spursuitofacourseandwhich
arejudgedtobeoutofthestudent'scontrol. Someofthegeneralcategoriesofextenuatingcircumstancesare:
seriousillness;seriousillnessordeathinthestudent'simmediatefamily;unavoidableconditionsarisingin
connectionwiththestudent'semploymentsuc
hasgeographicaltransferorchangeinthehoursorconditionsof
employment;discontinuanceofaclassbytheschool;oractivedutymilitaryservice,includingactivedutyfor
training.Receiptofafailinggradeuponcompletionofacourseduetounsatisfactoryworkmaybeconsideredunder
extenuatingcircumstancesifthestud
entcandemonstrategoodfaithinpursui tofacourseANDthestudentsubmits
evidencethattheyappliedfortutorialaid,orconsultedanacademiccounselorregardinganattempttoremedythe
