Student Responsibility Contract
VA Benefit Certification: Students using VA Education Benefits are required to
complete an enrollment certification form prior to EVERY semester they wish to use
benefits. Failure to do so may result in classes not being certified and benefits not
being processed. Classes that have previously been completed with a passing
grade or are not listed on your education plan will not be certified.
Education plan: Students using VA Education Benefits are required to have an
education plan with approved courses and programs on file that is completed by a
Delta College counselor. Classes that are not listed on the plan will
NOT be certified
under VA Benefits.
Class schedule changes: Student must notify the Veteran Resource Center of any
changes to their class schedule during the semester. Failure to do so may result in
an overpayment which may result in a debt with the U.S. Department of Veterans
Affairs.
Satisfactory progress: Students must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA AND complete
at least 50% of your units each term. A warning will be sent after the second
semester failing to maintain satisfactory progress. A third semester failing to
maintain satisfactory progress will result in TERMINATION
of benefits. After termination, students can become eligible for benefits by
completing one semester at Delta College without benefits to regain satisfactory
progress.
College & Military transcripts: Students must submit all college transcripts and any
military credit transcripts prior to creating an education plan with a Delta College
counselor.
Affects to benefits: Short-term, late start, and/or online and hybrid courses may
affect the monthly benefit received.
Work Experience: Students may be eligible to work study experience. Individuals
using financial aid may qualify for Federal work study. Individuals using VA
Education Benefits may qualify for VA work study.
Military activation: Students who experience military activation must provide a copy
of the official orders to the Veteran Resource Center and may be entitled to a
military withdraw (MW) from classes.
