Your application was selected by the Department of Education for a process called Verification. In this process, we will be comparing
information from the 2020‐ 2021 FAFSA with your 2018 federal tax information. Any corrections that need to be made to the FAFSA will be
done electronically by our office. If any corrections are made to the original FAFSA data you will receive an updated Student Aid Report (SAR)
from the Department of Education. New students will not receive a disbursement and continuing students will not receive a financial aid
award until verification is complete. This also includes those who have requested an Extension of Time to File U.S. Income Tax Return.
What Happens After I Submit My Information? Once you begin submitting documentation, the Office of Financial Aid will:
1.
Review the documents to be sure they are complete.
2.
If the documents are incomplete (missing signatures, questions are left blank, etc.) or raise additional questions for which we need
clarification, we will request that the documents be resubmitted or request additional documentation.
NOTE: Requests for missing information will show up on your FA Online Account. Incomplete documents will not be processed.
3.
Once all documents are complete, the Financial Aid office will review the information and compare it with the information reported
on the FAFSA.
Required Tax and Income Information:
1.
If you filed taxes in 2018 but did not use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool when completing your FAFSA you have two options:

2018 tax return, or request a 2018 Tax Return Transcript from the IRS.

How to Obtain a Tax Return Transcript or IRS Verification of Non-Filing Letter
1.
A Tax Return Transcript is different
than a 1040, 1040A/EZ form that you submit to the IRS. A Tax Return Transcript shows what
the IRS processed for your taxes for 2018. We can accept signed income
tax returns, but if you cannot provide a copy of your
2018 tax return then a 2018 Tax Return Transcripts must be requested from the IRS.
a.
Be sure to request a Tax Return Transcript, NOT an Account Transcript.
2.
A Verification of Non-Filing Letter is a letter from the IRS confirming that they have no taxes for you for the 2018 tax year. If
you did not file taxes as a parent or an independent student you must provide a Confirmation of Non-Filing Letter from the IRS.
3.
Do not have any transcript sent directly to the Financial Aid Office.
4.
