Include written justification on why the variance is needed and attach a site map and/or description
of where on the property the new landscape is being installed.
This notice does not exempt either the landscape installer or the property owner/manager from
complying with the year-round water waste provisions of Section 44-6 of the City Ordinance.
You will be contacted within 3 business days of receipt of variance request with notification of
approval or denial. No citations will be issued for the property while the application is pending.
Receipt and approval of this notice by City of Round Rock Water Utility allows the applicant to irrigate a
newly installed landscape according to the following schedule:
o Days 1 through day 10 after installation: may water daily, not between 10am – 7pm;
o Days 11 through day 20: may water every other day, not between 10am – 7pm;
o Days 21 through 30: may water every third day, not between 10am – 7pm.
o By day 31, the property must be adhering to the current water use restrictions.
Hand-watering is permitted at any time.
*New Landscape means vegetation:
(1) installed at the time of the construction of a new house, new multi-family building or new
commercial building, or
(2) installed as part of a governmental entity’s capital improvement project, or
(3) that is 25% or more of a property’s landscaped area.
