Fellowships Student Travel
Purpose: In order to encourage research among graduate students and to recognize their scholarly achievement,
the Graduate School awards special travel scholarships to students who present the results of their research at
professional meetings and conferences.
Eligibility:
Be in good academic standing in a graduate degree program at time of conference
Have an approved Plan of Study on file (unless fewer than 12 graduate hours have been accumulated)
Submit proof that the presentation has been accepted for presentation at a professional meeting
Students may receive only one award of this type in a 12 month period
Award Amount (check the appropriate category):
Regional (250 miles) Non-Regional
Single Presenter* $ 150 $400
Co-Presenters $ 100 $200
*Only student presenters/authors should be counted, e.g., a paper presented by one student and his/her faculty
advisor is eligible. If there are special circumstances, please have your advisor detail this information.
Application:
This application must be submitted to the Graduate School at least four weeks prior to the meeting. You must
include (1) proof of acceptance, such as a copy of the conference program or a letter of acceptance showing the
applicant’s name and presentation title and (2) abstract. Please indicate (handwritten note is fine) on the abstract
which participants are students (as opposed to faculty).

Payment (if award is made): Fellowship money will be posted to your WSU account. When posted, if you do not owe
money to the University, you will be issued a check or the money will be directly deposited to your bank account. If you owe
the University money, the fellowship award will go towards what you owe.
