Towing Rate Sheet
This sheet is required to be filed with the licensed Tow Truck Brokerages and/or Owners to the City of
Vaughan By-law and Compliance department for every Tow Truck prior to charging these rates to
members of the public, in line with the Licensing By-law 315-2005 (theBy-law”), as amended, and
posted at www.vaughan.ca/bylaw.
Filing and posting of rates
Note that a copy of the rates must be:
filed with the By-law and Compliance Department in accordance with the By-law,
posted in a conspicuous place in the licensed vehicle at all times and
made available upon the request of every Hirer or Person authorized to enforce the By-law.
Towing
rates for government agencies and other groups
Note that if a Tow Truck Owner or Brokerage has entered into a written agreement with a government
agency, such Owner or Brokerage is exempt from the schedule of maximum rates listed below,
provided that the rates are filed with the Chief Licensing Officer at least thirty (30) days before any
services are provided.
Similarly, the By-law does not prohibit a Tow Truck Owner or Brokerage from entering into a written
agreement with an auto mobile association, motor league, any government or local board thereof, or
any limited corporation with rates lower than the ones listed within the By-law.

Section 3 Towing Rates
A reminder that no Tow Truck Owner/Driver shall:
where an estimate of the cost of towing or related Services is required to be given to a Hirer,
charge the Hirer an amount more than 10% above the estimated amount; or
charge a Hirer for any tow and other Services unless the Hirer, or a Person acting on behalf of the
Hirer if the Hirer is unable to give authorization in circumstances provided for in O. Reg. 17/05 of
the Consumer Protection Act, 2002, authorizes the Services.
3.1 - Rates for Gross Vehicle Weight not exceeding 2,271 kg
These rates apply to towing from a collision scene in the City to any point within the City or any point
outside the City, and do not include taxes.

actions, lawsuits, or other proceedings of every nature and kind arising from, and in
consequence of activities related to this application and licence.
