VERIFICATION OF RESIDENCY FOR A NEW STUDENT
The State of California requires all school districts to have on file documentation CONFIRMING the
ADDRESS of all students enrolled in the school (California Education Code 48204.6 and Title V.Section
432 f.2). This information will not be given to any other agency or organization.
MUST BE ORIGINALS – NOT A COPY
Parent or legal guardian of a new student must present two verifications as proof of
residency in the Torrey Pines Elementary School attendance area. A question of validity of
a document may require additional verifications. Copies of the submitted documents will be
placed in your student’s cumulative file:
Your current monthly billing from the gas and electric company with your name and address
printed on it. If connection is recent, SDG&E has a verification of connection (online) that
must be printed and submitted in lieu of the monthly bill.
AND one of the following:
Rental lease agreement dated within the last 3 months (not a rent receipt) must have your
name, address, and landlord’s name, address and telephone number.
Recently recorded deed, in your name, with date and recorded number stamped in upper
corner. Or closed escrow papers, with a recent closing date (signed by all parties).
Current mortgage statement including name & address of parent(s) or guardian of child.
NOTE: We may contact your landlord for verification. Home checks to verify residency
may occur. Falsification of any information or documents, either written or verbal, relative to
this verification procedure will result in immediate revocation of enrollment for the student in
Torrey Pines Elementary School. Student will be referred immediately to his/her school of
legal residency.
