Through the generous contributions of supporters, foundations and alumni the Department of Economics is
able to offer the Student-Faculty Partnership (SFP) program. This program matches students with faculty
mentors to engage in research or teaching projects.
Students whose applications are accepted will be hired as hourly Research Assistants (RA), or Instructional
Student Assistants (ISA). The SFP program also rewards students for developing innovative research ideas, by
offering monetary awards for excellent working papers describing the SFP project.
To apply for the SFP program
Students should complete this proposal form in collaboration with their faculty mentor, and the online
application form here. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, for consideration for a particular semester,
please refer to the deadline listed online.

Research-Focused SFP
For research-focused SFP, all teams are required to submit a draft paper to the department chair within three
months of acceptance into the program that describes the project’s progress and results (which may be
preliminary). Excellent draft papers are eligible to receive a monetary award, and may be posted on the
Economics Department webpage in a SFP Working Paper Series.
