There are five different types of utilities (form, time, place, ownership, and information). For each of the
following items, describe how each utility might apply to it and what added value does it bring to the
product. Below is an example of how it works.
Soft Drink Vending Machine
Form: It has lights, glass window to see the products
to choose from
Time: Available anytime that the power is on. May
be subject to building being open
Place: Usually centrally located for foot traffic. Out
in the open
Ownership: Will take all coins. Could be made
better by allowing bills to be used
Information: Has a brief set of instructions on the
outside. Offerings are well labelled.
