The purpose of dual majors is to recognize a student’s academic concentration on
courses within two curricular areas. A student planning to complete a dual major is
expected to successfully complete the required courses in each curriculum. Because
several courses, particularly general studies courses, are required in all programs it is
obvious students will not need to duplicate them. In some cases, it will be legitimate to
substitute similar courses (e.g. Biology and Botany, Farm Records and Accounting). In
all practicum and internship cases the dual major student must complete experiences for
each major.
Students preparing to complete a dual major program must work closely with their
advisors in scheduling courses to avoid conflicts while meeting all requirements in the two
curricula.
